Working with children and young people...

Is your child or young person trying to navigate their way through life and feeling bufffeted about?

Is there a sense that the world is somewhere that feels difficult to be?

Are they experiencing anxiety, emotional or nervous system dysregulation?

Or maybe something has happened in their life and their mental health and way of being feels tricky right now.

Whatever the reasons that led you here  I know it has been a brave and perhaps vulnerable step to seek out a therapist that can be trusted to work with your child.

  • Working in a creative and expressive way can help remove the pressure of trying to articulate thoughts and feelings that they may not yet know or be aware of.

  • It can be a way of exploring identity and their sense of self, in a playful way.

  • Playing, creating, moving, writing, and expressing themselves in ways they feel connected to, may aid emotional regulation, helping them to remain within their window of tolerance as they explore their inner worlds.

Amongst other struggles, I have worked with children and young people to help them explore and process;

  • suicidal ideation

  • self-injury

  • anxiousness

  • identity

  • gender

  • fear

  • grief and loss

  • emotional dysregulation

  • their neurodivergence

  • relationships

  • adverse childhood experiences

  • the complexity of divorce and separation

  • feelings about school or education  or home education

  • autonomy

  • their sense of self

  • nervous system regulation

I offer a relational and co-created approach, helping your young person process what is happening in their inner and outer worlds. I seek to support them as they untangle who they are and find the confidence, inner strength, personal values and nervous system regulation that might enable them to be themselves in a world that often does not understand or value our way of being.
